Even if they die you'll get man of the hour or adoption soon enough. Part of it is because of overpowered generals' bodyguards - you can send them all to the front, and they crush every low-to-mid-tier unit. Part of it is because there are too many sieges and units are pretty much the same in a siege. Differences between factions are too small.First I identified things I wanted to see changed about vanilla: So I decided to take things in my hands, and do some modding myself. Maybe other people like it this way, I didn't. Stainless Steel simply made things a lot worse to me, by slowing everything down, and creating this huge boring map on which nothing ever happens. Lands to Conquer was only a bit better than vanilla - on the one hand I finally had a chance of playing with late units, on the other hand it didn't really fix most of vanilla gameplay issues. I tried a few mods but were mostly disappointed with them. There's been some things about Medieval 2 Total War that really bothered me - like how small differences between factions were compared to Rome Total War, or how often the game turned into a siegefest. Yet there's something about me that's never content with what I have, and always wanting to make things better. Eventually they would be cities that had everything but thats 70-160 turns down the line.I really enjoy Rome Total War and Medieval 2 Total War games. Its true that this isnt strategic but you cant build all these buildings in 1 turn! You had to pick and choose which to prioritize. Lets not forget that you could build cities any way you wanted. Something i guess this engine is also incapable of. Plus i liked the visual upgrades units would get when you equip them with better armor. I dont think id want to see a group of holy romans stand around in thier heavy armor and advanced weapons as they watch one of thier own men get gutted by a frenchman. It was fine in medieval japan since i could just pretend the misconception of the "honorable" samurai/japanese ashigaru who only fought in one vs one duals was real and that made it acceptable. This current engine isnt suited for medieval combat.

Now imagine that but under the current engine. I remember just how much of a fun to watch and play mess battles got. Medieval is all close combat with lots of spear units in the early eras. Even its expansions were actual content heavy expansions.Įven so i woudlnt dare sully the image of the medieval line of total war with the current engine. I woudlnt remember that if medieval 2 wasnt my all time favorite Total war. Putting that aside i remember while lurking the official total war forums a year before rome2's release an official dev saying that they will not do a medieval 3. Yeah there are alot of medival 3 threads here.
